Redhawks dominate at ByronMonday, March 13 2017 - Byron Indoor Preview Invite
Central brought home another Byron Indoor Preview Invitational team trophy on Saturday. The Redhawks had a dominating performance in which they scored 136 points. The next closest team was 50 points behind.
Tikia Harris continued her success in the high jump with yet another clearance of 5’4”. She has now cleared 5’4” on three occasions this indoor track season.
Naomi Egharevba was the team leader of the meet with her 30-point performance. She won the 55 meter dash, 400 meter dash, and 200 meter dash.
Several Redhawks added to the team score with their top-3 finishes. Athletes with top-3 performances included Maddie Wagner in the long jump, Lauren Kainrath in the long jump and triple jump, Rose Fritz in the pole vault, Jasmin Flye in the 55 meter hurdles, Alana Austin in the 3200 meter run, Emily Blank in the 400 meter dash, Meghan Donovan in the 800 meter run, and Carolyn Carpenter in the 1600 meter run.
Both the 4x800 and 4x200 meter relay teams earned second place finishes. The 4x8 team of Blank, Erin Kainrath, Carlyn Sokol, and Victoria Mineo ran 10:13.80. The 4x2 team of Wagner, Flye, Hanna Meyer, and Maddie Purl ran 1:54.16.
This week, the Redhawks will conclude their indoor season at the DuPage Valley Conference Indoor Championships. The meet will take place on Thursday night at North Central College.
